I am planning to reconfigure my stereo setup, however, I need to determine if I SHOULD include speakers for the rear stage.
Actually, I prefer to do the following:
1) Use a 4 channel amp to power tweeters and mid range speaker for front stage (active crossover). Purchase another Amp to drive woofer/ers in selaed box in trunk. So, front stage and woofer only.
2) Or I can purchase a bigger AMP and drive the woofer AND 6X9's in the back. so, front/rear stage and woofer
What would you do??

You might as well get some 6x9s now, or else you'll most likley regret it later. I would just get a nice small 50x4watt amp for all the highs and a seperate mono amp for your sub. hope that helps.

If what you mean by front stage is only have front speakers and subs in the back. Thats what I have now and I don't really recomend it unless you can't stand the stock speakers and want some quality sound and can't afford all four speakers. It does sound better then stock, but it doesn't sound nearly as good as when I get my JL VR 6x9s in the back.

i would say it would depend on your subs, if going with a really loud system to compete then they would have no purpose due to u will not be able to hear them. but if this is for daily driving and just having a little beat in the back then i would buy them. there are a good bit of people that just buy a real good set of front comps that hold decent power and just run them off an amp.
