sri since you dont lose your low end torque. and i dont think a cai is worth it since you only gain about 1-2 hp more than the sri.

is there a noticeable difference on either?  Will gas mileage noticable improve?  Will the car actually pull stronger?

There will be a noticeable difference with either, both audibly and seat of the pants. Not likely to improve MPG, in fact it will drop initially because you'll have your foot in it more often!

But listening to the engine purr/roar is awesome!

My mileage went down a tad when I first got my SRI too.  I couldnt keep my foot out of it.  I still like to make it roar sometimes.  Its just plain fun lol.

Yeahhh....I noticed that. It ticks down faster...probably because I pushing the throttle and going faster.

So...yeahhh....after I get my exhaust, me and my friends gonna race. He has a Mazda3 hatchback...AT (manu-matic though), CAI and that's all I think. Although his car is a lot lighter and more peppy...you think I have a shot? I declined the offer to race my other friend in a RSX Type S (stock though) 6 speed manual.

No. With a miracle, maybe. since you hae an auto, im guessing that you put down about 145-150ish to the wheel.

I would lose to the Mazda3 hatchback? its the year before they introduced the 5 speed auto.

mazda 3 is much smaller and could have either 150hp or 160hp... I don't quite remember what the hatch came with... plus, the hatch is quite aerodynamic

i dont know what year you are referring to but the 2004 mazda3 sedan weighs about 2800lbs. Your car weighs about 3300. Thats a 500lbs difference and both cars have the same hp, that is if the mazda3 is a 2.3L instead of the 2.0L. The 2.0L only has 148 hp. In any case, the mazda3 has any advantage due to it weighing less and having around the same hp as you. If you had the v6 then of course, but an i4, slim chance.

damn man...his is an 03 mazda3 hatchback 2.3L

Well, techically we don't have the same HP. I have installed an SRI and exhaust headers. He only has a CAI. I dunno...we'll see.
