Why does everyone seem to hate Altezza?

I've been shopping lately for some new tail lights for my 01 accord coupe and on other forums everyone seems to hate Altezza tail lights. I was just wondering why and what your opinions were. If you have any suggestions for a place where I can get some nice looking tail lights please feel free to say so. The only ones I actually like that I've seen so far have been the black housing Altezza ones, but I'm pretty new to all this stuff.

i would just keep it original, just smoke the back lights

The biggest reason that people rag on them is because they've been done so much they lost their origonality.  They don't look bad but a few ricers using cheap APC ones gave them a bad name

Since your car is black, I would either smoke the original tails or buy the TYC tails and paint the trim to match the car.... I had altezzas but then I realized how stupid they looked on my car.

Does anyone have a picture of the TYC tail lights installed on an Accord coupe? I know what they look like, but I need to see what they actually look like installed on the car. I'm visual like that, haha.

Well heres a pic of the TYC tails on my car. I don't have the middle light(obviously), As you can see, the painted trim around the lights looks sweet....

the best reason why to hate them is because of safety. they generally offer inferior light output and less than stellar functionality of turn signals compared stock. i hate them and get mad at anyone having simply because it endangers me and everyone around them, especially the cheap LED ones which get washed out easily in the sun. plus they look like cheap pieces of plastic COKE BOTTLES, there i said it.

It's chromed plastic that you find on toys. It looks cheap.

hahaha, thanks, i can have that arranged for a small fee...lol

I personally like the looks of the Altezza Style lights on any car...The quality ones such as In Pro and TYC are DOT Compliant and are of OEM Quality...

I dont mind them for the most part. Though they do seem el cheapo when you see a rusted S10 with them and nothing else. Idk, I guess it depends on the car.  I bought altezzas and recently painted them black, but left chrome rims around the actual red tail lights.  I like it:)

They looked good when they first came out but they are so over used these days and on so many sh***y cars. If you do something original with them like 19_97 did the I would accept them. The worst part is that car companies are starting to incorporate that stupid chrome plastic into their own taillights now.

There just doesn't seem to be a lot of selection for my model year Accord coupe. I like how the TYCs look on j-mans car, but only because he's missing the middle part. The middle part on those tails look tribal or something, and we all know the tribal look went out around the same time they removed my beloved beverage, Surge, from the market. Ah the 90's.

Just smoke the originals. That would look the best on black IMO and then maybe the shaved CF trunk to get rid of the center.

I just found out that smoked tail lights are illegal in Florida. I've had too many run-ins with the police to risk it, haha. Is there any kind of tint that doesn't ruin the reflective quality of the tail lights?

if you went with DOT compliant TYC's and just painted the trim that would be legal and still look slick.

never been a fan of the chrome plastic ones, but i really like the grayed out ones.
They look like the stock tailights on newer mazdas, which i also like.

Thanks!  They are the alezzas...I just customized them!  I like the looks, and I think it looks like the Mazdas too, though I didnt know about them beforehand! lol

Easy. Hard as crap to see. Second. You drive a Honda, not Lexus.
