Default *98-02 CHEAP* LED CONVERSION [cluster, clock, dome, maps, door, plate]

98 accord coupe. Did a *for the most part* complete LED conversion of the inside. Lighting realllly adds to the appearance of any vehicle, and along with my 8000k HID's --- the LEDs totally just fit in. Not to mention the low power usage, EXTRA EXTRA bright light discharge... etc

THIS ALL COST LESS THAN $15, YES, $15 DOLLARS TO COMPLETE. But requires some patience considering all the LEDs came from china, on ebay lol. On top of that installation is a BREEZE! Sooooo easy, the biggest noob in the world could do it. Maybe even a 5 year old. lol.

What YOU will need if you want to do this.
[FOR THE CLUSTER]

3x T10 LED Bulbs. Pick your color. White looks good (see my pic) but soon they are going to be blue once my bulbs come in from china. These will replace the bulbs that light up your tach, or the RPMs, the speedometer, and the gas gauge. Hit me up if you need more explanation and actually are planning to do this.
*ebay search: T10 LED*

4x T5 NEO-WEDGE BULBS. MAKE SURE SURE SURE you get the WHOLE "neo-wedge" fitting, and not just the T5 bulbs. This will illuminate your: temp gague, blinkers, and the coolest one of all -- the odometer. These will also fit into the: e-brake light, cruise control, high beams, check engine, seat belt, and all those.
*ebay search: T5 Neo LED*

1x T3 NEO-WEDGE BULB. This will light up your clock light. Again, hit me up for info on how to swap it if you are interested.
*ebay search: T3 Neo LED*

[FOR THE INTERIOR LIGHTING]

1x 41mm "bar-style" Dome light bulb. I went with the 16 SMD white LED. Below is a link, because there are a lot of 12v bulbs for cars and I dont want any confusion.

*ebay search: 12v LED*

4x Map light LED bulbs - 2 for the map light, 2 for the door lights. Size T10. I went with the 4 SMD whites. You dont want these to be too big, as in dont get a friggen 30SMD T10, lol. -- becuase they may not fit in the map light, or door light fitments.
*ebay search: T10 LED*

[EXTERIOR LIGHTING]

1x LED bulb. Size T10. This will replace your PLATE LIGHT. Way brighter, way whiter, and won't have to worry about being pulled over because they "can't see your plate well enough at night".
*ebay search: T10 LED*

If you have any questions on how to do this specifically, comments, whatever... please post here or send me a PM. Thanks

question for 98accordman: the pics that you posted are of the "white lights" or the "blue lights"? they look blue to me but your post says they are white in the picture and you will make them blue later.

and can you post a picture of the white lights installed? and a picture of the clock?

thnks and keep up the good work

when ordering LED's on ebay from China the shipping usually takes two weeks.

when installing LED's in place of bulbs you need a "drop resistor" - basically a 1/4 watt resistor that controls current through the LED. 470 ohms is typical for 12V but that value can vary based on the voltage drop of the LED and the current rating.

you'll need a soldering iron to do a raw LED swap, but it is pretty easy.

when working with LED's be careful of the leads - too much physical stress will cause the LED to fail. also note that LED's have polarity, so they only work one way.

you can cheaply remove the bulbs from your interior dash and replace the incandescant bulbs with LED's and a resistor for very little money, with a bit of effort.

the courtesy bulbs can be easily swapped out with LED replacements for a direct fit, or you can solder in your own.

an LED conversion is on my to-do list and will be well detailed on this forum with pics of the entire process. my goal was for RGB LED replacements with a custom controller. we'll see if i have the spare time...

this is a great topic and thanks to the OP for sharing.
