Great Information

Makes sense. I've been wanting to change my stereo setup by putting the tweeters in the pillars as well and rebuilding the kicks for my mid range and adding the rf 3sixty.2 to the mix. Only thing is I'm not running as active setup. All passive with their respected crossovers. So then how did you test for sound for your setup with the kids as they are instead of angled before actually going ahead and doing the install?

a passive setup has limitations with time alignment, but can still sound great.

As a former recording engineer, producer and musician of 30 years or more, I'm dying to know what kind of music you listen ... I also noticed in a shot from his Alpine HU has been put on the MP3. My system is not nearly as sophisticated as yours and I have only the files. Aif in my iPod or on my CD. With nano 8 Gigabit and 6 CD's, I'm still 12.2 GB of music I can recycle my internal playlist in minutes for glucose 6-CD in white (about 90 cents) I like straight jazz, jazz progressive / fusion.
My music tastes vary, mostly rock and electronica, some jazz/fusion, and occasionally classical (mostly evaluation material). this morning i was listening to Tool. i have built a system that has an excellent sound stage with good width, height , and depth by using speaker locations that do the job (not factory location). i wanted to be as faithful as possible with my EQ settings. T/A settings vary based on occupants but there are basically two settings and it performs well for both (one or two seats).
My headunit is the CDA-7930 from 1997 and is built upon a 1 bit architecture - no mp3 capability. i did that on purpose to reduce the urge to play mp3 in the car. on the PC i actually deleted all 2000+ mp3 songs due to bit rates under 320kbps. then i re-ripped my CD collection at 320kbps for use on portable music players. but the car sees mostly original CD's. any burned CD's are direct copies or from 1411kbps .wav rips.
i can hear a clear difference between compressed and non-compressed.

he and i both dislike compressed music and we can hear the lower bit rate. i prefer CD's over anything compressed.
i listen to mostly electronic music, 90's hard rock (like Tool), etc. But i spice it up now and again.
