Default 2004 Honda Accord Radio Killing Battery

I Have a 2004 Honda Accord 2.4L LX. The radio comes and goes since I bought it used in 2012. I purchased an aftermarket double din radio to solve this problem. It has been working great because the only thing I had to do was use a harness to plug into the OEM radio so the lights work and I can see the heating buttons in the dark. Well, recently over the last week my battery has died 2 times. Both times its showing only the factory OEM backlight displayed which is blank (not my aftermarket). The radio is turning on by itself when car is not on. No pattern, it just comes on and off as it pleases. After some research on the internet, I found the faulty radio in 2003-2007 Accords are a very common problem. My questions are:

1. Is there a way I can just disable the OEM radio completely without affecting any other function with the heat/ac (lighting or function)? I don't need the factory radio display at all since I have my aftermarket.

2. If I just unplug the harness from the back of the OEM radio, I know my lights wont work on the panel but will this also disable the radio from just turning on its own?

Any other help on solutions I would appreciate. Thank you for your time.

Bummer about the radio failure. it was an unfortunate batch of bad radios Honda bought.

Unplugging the harness to the factory radio is an option that will achieve your goal.

you just need to disconnect the battery constant wire, cutting this wire would also do the trick and may keep lighting.
