2003 i4 4cyl Cleaning EGR Valve and Ports
So everything I'm seeing is either referring to a v6 configuration, or a 1990-1993 vehicle.
Does anyone have any information on cleaning the EGR valve and ports for a 2003 4cyl?
I'd imagine it's fairly similar, but I wanted more confidence in the procedure before I started.
Thanks!

2003 4-cyl engine is WAY DIFFERENT from the 90-2002 F-series 4-cyl.
Look for EGR instructions about 2003-2012 4-cyl engine. In general principle it's the same, but components are in different locations, etc.

Man, my google-fu must be off.. The best I'm finding is how to replace the EGR valve, which is mostly common sense.
In the case of cleaning, do I just clean the valve's holes, or are there ports I still need to clean?
Not finding much in the way of information... A lil help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
**EDIT**
You'd think that something that gets clogged so easily, it'd be easily accessible, and wouldn't require drilling/tapping/slide pulling...
BTW, this is the best write-up I've found: http://home.comcast.net/~em-engineering/T2T013.pdf
I realize the locations might be different, but want to know if the process is similar. If possible, I'll document the process while I'm doing it to get a more up-to-date document going.
Just wanna make sure (and I don't have the car right now to look) if the ports are similar.

Another question... has anyone tried doing something like epoxying a small screw to the top of it to allow for easier removal later?
I'm not necessarily thinking tapping the plug, but just epoxying a screw on top of the plug.. is there enough clearance?

*Bump*
Still searching around for information...
Would I just clean the EGR Valve and call it a day? OR are there EGR runner ports that need cleaned too? Are they under the intake manifold?
Seriously not finding any information for an 03 i4. Help would be appreciated!

Wish I could be more help, but I never had to do that while we owned the 2003. There has to be passageways inside the intake manifold, that are connected to the EGR valve.
I don't know whether those passageways are a complicated "network" or just a simple tunnel that you can clean out with carb-cleaner & a toothbrush. I suspect the carbon plugging was already a well-known problem when they designed the K-series engine. Hope that they made the passageways big & easy to clean.

Well, I wanted to do more than just clean the EGR valve... but looks like until I find more information, I guess that's all I can do... Don't wanna take the intake manifold off to find out it's not serviceable.
