Default 97 accord ; C27a or f22b1 ?

I'm going to try to be broad as possible . So excuse me for my little knowledge in these cars .

I currently have a honda accord 97 v6 , which I bought because I thought it was faster (170hp) than my old accord which was a 4cyl non-vtec(130hp).

Being that said , I been hearing that the 97 accord w/ a 4cyl v-tec is faster than the v6 . Can this be true ?

Cause I would rather sell the v6 and get the 4cyl vtec . Not just for the speed but bc you can find a lot of aftermarket parts and possibly do a engine swap (h22) .

Cause tbh I've look for aftearkers parts for the v6 and there's almost nothing . And I want to invest in a nice looking accord .

So can anybody give some insight , in which engine is better ? And besides the modifications would you advise me to sell it and get the vtec engine or just keep the v6 ?

I don't know if I made any sence but I just want a good car :/

Comparing a 1997 4-Cylinder Accord with a 5-Speed manual transmission to a 1997 V6 Accord with an automatic transmission will not yield much of a difference in performance either way. That said, if you're comparing two automatic cars, the V6 will smoke the one with the I4.

As for bolt ons, unless you're talking about intake and exhaust plumbing plus cam replacements, there really isn't much you can do to the I4 short of forced induction to significantly increase output. Then there is the issue of the transmission, if you breathe on a car with an I4 engine and an automatic transmission, you're going to be going through transmissions every couple of oil changes.

Pretty sure the 4 beat the 6 in a 0 to 60 time - you can look up the old spec's on the two.

Yes, the 5th gen v6's are kind of rare - which means info/parts/ect are hard to come by.

Not sure of swap options for them (j30...j35?) but there might be some information floating aroud.

It doesn't feel like it it can , I've had both 4 cyl and currently have the 6 . And from the push pull feeling at the start I know the v6 has more & the 4cyl has a slow start. Doesn't sounds reasonable but , I just wanted to hear what other ppl had to say Im guessing I'm just gonna have to see by racing a 4cyl , Lol ( x

Just be sure to do it the proper way - at a track.

My preference would be to have a sweet shifting 6-Speed manual in my Accord, but apparently Honda was of the opinion that a V6 Accord with three pedals under the dash was a pretty dumb idea.

My 96 4 cyl. vtech feels pretty peppy around town, just drove the wifes suzuki to the store , huge difference , I think it would be close against the v6, any one in the east texas area willing to give it a shot, im game.
