What is the actual code you are getting? P1456 or P1457.

How do you know the code is for the gas cap? It maybe any of dozens of other codes unrelated to the gas cap/tank/EVAP...?

Gotta get the code number - then we can start talking real possibilities.

Question Now its just a bllinking light

Yes I should have the code. and I used to know what it was...I will have to research how to make the light blink and count them...I forget just how to do that again..I'll get back to this thread as soon as I can do all that tomorrow..

The last time I did this it was the evaporator system..and someone posted that it is usually the cap....And because I have one from a junk yard in s.jersey...I thought it was the problem...
I know I sound lame ,I always wanted to be a mechanic..and went six months of auto mechanic school in denver..emily griffin school.
I never got a job as a mechanic, and took a job driving again..
Anyway I'll have to get back to this thread....thanks again...

If you can afford around 10/20 dollars, you can the OBD reader, will save you on gas trips and other issues when scrounging through junk yards.....and you dont have to count blinks and hope you got it right.
