wire vtec and f22b1 ecu

If you didn't know you can just simply do a head swap and have same engine. As all the f22's (except the f22c) are the same block just with a different head. So you can just swap heads and wire vtec and the f22b1 ecu. Would be the SAME engine just stamped f22b2.

Also are you just swapping to the f22b1 b/c it's vtec? If so I hope you know SOHC vtec has NOTHING to with performance it's for getting better gas mileage. It's nothing like the DOHC vtec like in b16/b18/f20b/h22 engines.

This is my first Honda and the engine was blown. So I've been looking online and I seen that the vtec had more hp. So so I'm doing more of a replacement, I just didn't disire to change a lot. In changing the ecu can I use a ecu form 94-97 or only 94? Know both car and engine are 94 but will have to find the ecu else where.

ok if you swap a OBD1 f22b1 you will need a obd1 f22b1 ecu. If you swap a OBD2 f22b1 you will need a OBD2 to OBD1 harness along with a OBD1 f22b1 ecu.

Pretty much to make less headache make sure you use a OBD1 f22b1

Ok. I understand know going on to head swaps. Can I put a F20B head on my F22b1 block or is there a better swap? Will that take care of the exhaust cramping?

ok doing a f20b head swap is the same as a h22 swap. same head just 1mm smaller intake valves. same headache as the h22 head.

ok let me stop and ask a few questions.

What is your power goals?
How much are you willing to spend TOTAL?
Are you looking for speed?
Are you looking for MPG?
Are you looking to do some light to light racing?
Are you looking to do hwy racing?
are you looking to do track racing?

it's really hard to say...this "xxxxx" engine is the best for you. I have to understand what your trying to do with your honda

Right know I don't real have a power goal. I'm trying to build a strong everyday driver that I can race light to light or hwy on the weekend. I've been looking at the f20B after doing research from your suggestion about going with a DOHC. I would like good MPG because I'll be driving this car everyday.

Will it be a headache to put f20b odb2 and my car is odb1. If it will be a headache is it worth it.

yes it will be a headache b/c there is no f20b obd1 ecu. so you will have to do a obd2 to obd1 conversion. Then get a chipped p72 ecu with a h22 base map then go get either a street tune or a dyno tune.

honestly you better for doing a full h22a swap. has good power will get decent gas mileage. They are fun to drive and a pretty straight fwd swap.

is your accord 5speed or auto?
