oil question
I'm trying to learn as I go about my vehicle and a little basic mechanics but in my car when I pull the spark plug cap off it has a long rod like object that sits on top of the spark plug when I pulled this out of the engine it was drenched in oil. I'm just wondering is this normal? Is oil suppose to be in there? It's thin runny oil not sludge like stagnant oil.

Year? What kind of Accord? 4-cyl or V6?
Spark plugs are down in the bottom of holes, & that long extension on the sparkplug wires is just that... an extension to reach the plugs.
The valve cover gasket has rings around each of those holes, & when that leaks, you get oil dripping down into the hole. Simple answer is just replace the valve cover gasket.

First, us a rag or something to mop up the oil down in that hole. Any oil left down there won't hurt much, but when you remove the sparkplug it might confuse you thinking it's coming from inside the combustion chamber.
You've got a sparkplug socket? They have a rubber grommet thing inside the socket to hold the plug while pulling it up out of the hole. I use a 12" extension because I have one; not really sure what minimum length is needed.

Your version of the valvecover is on the left side of the picture. The perimeter gasket is #5, and you should also get 4 of #7 - one for each sparkplug tube. And the gasket kit will probably come with #15 which is either a rubber grommet to go under each hold-down nut, or maybe it's a metal washer with rubber grommet bonded to it.
Don't over-tighten the nuts #14 because it's easy to break off the studs...
