I suppose it could be done if you just use your stock wiring harness and stock ecu, in theory the engine would run just without vtec. Never heard of anyone doing though, as the VTEC will only help not hurt.

All you have to do is add one or two wires for vtec and get the vtec ecu to make it work

Well the thing was that my engine some how over heated, engine went bad so I found new vtec engine same year car but only because it was cheaper than non vtec engine, and I don't want to buy
New wires and computer so I'll just not install the vtec, but wanted to make sure it was going to work
Thank you

I wouldn't be surprised if your car's wiring harness has the wires necessary for the VTEC circuits. It's only a couple wires out in the engine compartment thats needed. Proabbly nto too difficult to do.

How to wire vtec - HondaSwap Forums

you need to wire vtec if it's a vtec engine. otherwise you will burn oil since sohc vtec is low end not high end. You can get away with no runnin vtec in DOHC vtec engine since your rarely in vtec (unless you redline every gear) since it's all high end in the RPM power band.

If I do the hot wiring do I need a vtec ECU or my regular stock one?

yes you need the ecu that is for your engine. if it's a f23 vtec then you need the f23 vtec ecu.
