RE: Whats the best gas..
in my opinion, the best gas is BP premium....BP premium is clear like water but all Shell gas are yellowish. I would say Shell comes in 2nd after BP then Chevon. Does anyone kno if Hess and Citgo are good or bad??

This has been brought up quite a bit. The search feature works now. Unless your 4 cylinder is having problems anything over 87 octane is a waste of money.

87 octane is good as long as you get it from a top tier gas pumps like shell,chevron,76,texaco. don't waste your money on higher octane gas unless it requires it(i.e BMW,etc.). and your rpm is normal at 1500 when you start up because its from a cold engine start.as long as it drops down after it warms up then it is ok.

yeah bottom line: octane is all about compression. doesnt improve fuel economy, doesnt give more power, and it definitely doesnt clean your engine. my H22A takes premium, anything else will run like crap (i know because i ran out of gas once) its compression is 10.6:1, the F23A is 9.3:1. only use that the owner's manual states which is probably regular. i wouldnt waste my money on premium if i didnt have to, believe me..

Buy by octane.
Only difference is additives.
Use octane per Honda specs.
Until last year, HP wasthe result of car companies using Premium gasoline in tests.
Hyundai gotfined for this.
Now if 87 octane is recommended; that is what is used in HP tests.
Some engines such as Toyota Avalon state min octane.
Better performance, MPG,mid grade or better.
And allows them to use Premium for tests (my opinion).
Nice engineering thatenables engine to adjust for lower octane fuel.
