In earlier models (94-97) this sensor is in the distributor. Not sure about yours.

You will need a shop manual to locate sensor and diagnose. Check automanualsource.com for a reasonable cost OEM emanua.

This is same obd1 code (Code 9) I got on my 94EX that eventually was traced to defective ECM. To diagnose the source of the problem, you measure the resistance of the sensor; first at connector nearest the sensor and if good move to the connction of the wiring harness to the ECM. If sensor resistance checks good at this point, the ECM is faulty. On 94-97 Accord the Vtec engine CYP sensor resistance was 350-700 ohms.

good luck

The cylinder position sensor (CYP sensor) is part of the distributor housing, if it turns out to be the CYP sensor, then the distributor housing needs to be replaced. The distributor housing is separately available without purchasing the whole distributor. See picture:

Honda part number 30105-PAA-L01 is just the housing without the igniter, coil, and rotor (since you already purchased those). There are aftermarket housing available too.

Also, make sure the ignition coil shield is in place and correctly installed. See attached pic.

Yes, P1381 can be caused by a faulty alternator. It was more prevalent in the 6th generation Accord V6 with the less than stellar Delphi alternators.

I forgot about it until you mentioned it. There's more info. regarding that in this other thread:
https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...me-back-37560/

Most of the 4 cylinders had the Denso alternators, a better alternator. The alternator should probably be tested first before replacement, to avoid just throwing a part (money) at it.
