Default 07 Accord EX power window rolls down half way

Hi guys, this is my first post here!
2007 Accord EX
The cable from my driver side power window regulator snapped so I replaced the whole regulator/motor unit with a Dorman brand off Amazon. It's all hooked up, the window rolls up and down, auto down works perfect. All other windows work fine.

Auto UP, however, is working incorrectly. When the window closes up to the top, it rolls back down half way and stops at the same area where the panel holes match the window bolts for access. If I manually press UP, the window will stay closed at the top.

I'm assuming this is the "memorized" starting position for the window when I put the new regulator in. I tried disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes, did the power window reset (ignition II hold down, etc) 4 or 5 times, but it still does the same thing. I can live with manually closing the window, but any suggestions or solutions to fix the auto UP will save my lazy fingers some stress!

Thanks
Mike

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Most help questions should generally be posted in the General Tech Help section.

Try this reset procedure to see if anything changes (this is from a Honda tech/electrical specialist)

"Remove both battery cables (making sure you have your radio code handy after you install the cables) and touch them together for about 5 minutes. Keep in mind that you're not touching the battery posts together, just the cables. A jumper wire is best used for this purpose. This will drain any residual power retained by electrical components--a resetting of sorts."

After that, following the instructions as per the owner's manual:

1. Start the engine. Push down and hold the driver's window switch until the window is fully open.

2. Pull and hold the driver's window switch to close the window completely, then hold the switch for a second or two more.

cool i will try that. Disconnecting both terminals from the battery there was still .5V reading from the car itself.

thanks for getting it into the right forum for me. So I disconnected the battery again and used jumper cables to drain out any current in the car like in the suggestion. When I reconnected, it is still doing the same thing. I did the reset again and it is still the same.

The reset procedure I used is this froma honda-tech.com forum:

NOTE: You must do the manual reset from the power
window switch at the affected window. For example, if
you’re resetting the front passenger’s power window
control unit, do it from the front passenger’s power
window switch, not the driver’s power window master
switch.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Lower the window all the way down with the power
window switch.
3. Open the driver’s or front passenger’s doorNOTE: Do steps 4 thru 7 within 5 seconds of each
other. Do these steps a total of four times in a row.
These steps clear the control unit’s memory.
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Push down and hold the power window switch.
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
7. Release the power window switch.
NOTE: Make sure the auto-up feature doesn't work.
If it does, do steps 4 thru 7 again, paying close
attention to the 5-second time limit for up to three
more times for each series of steps.
8. Lower the window all the way down with the power
window switch.
9. Pull up and hold the power window switch until the
window goes all the way up, then keep holding the
switch for 1 second.
NOTE: Make sure the auto-up/down feature works
correctly by lowering and raising the window with
the power window switch. If it doesn't work
correctly, repeat the manual reset several times,
paying close attention to the 5-second time limit. If it
still doesn't work, troubleshoot the power window
circuit.

This was the solution if a few windows weren't operating but others were.

Does anyone else have this auto half way rolldown problem? Or anyone have problem with Dorman products?

The window run channel may need to be cleaned and lubed. Clean the run channel with some rubbing alcohol and then use some silicone based lubricant.

Your car has the anti-pinch power windows. The power window motor incorporates a pulser which generates pulses during the motor's operation and sends pulses to the power window control unit. As soon as the power window control unit detects no pulses from the pulser, the power window control unit makes the power window motor stop and reverse. This is to prevent pinching your hand or fingers during auto-up operation. The anti-pinch operation is not active if closing the power windows by the key cylinder (I believe LX and EX have this feature), you can close the power windows and moonroof (if equipped) by inserting the key in the driver's door key cylinder and turn clockwise and release and then turn it clockwise again within 15 seconds and hold to close them.

If cleaning and lubing the window run channel doesn't work, it may be the replacement motor. Let me know how it works out.
