1988 Hond Accord starts OK runs a little rough when cold , Idles OK but when taking off from a stop the cars runs rough from a little bit off idle to Mid range then cleans out and Runs OK , no missing , has good power , new plugs , air filter , dis cap looks OK and the rotor also , could it be a electrical sensor that works in the "mid range" is there a sensor like this? thanks again for any help and thanks for the use of this Forum.

 

Off idle brings to mind the EGR valve which the port that it sits in/on clogs up. You could do a cylinder balance which you brake toque the motor in gear foot on brake at the RPM with the problem and short out the cylinders and notice which one if any makes the least difference. If they are all the same the problem is something global that affects all cylinders. They make a special plastic plier to remove the spark plug wires with the engine running.

 

The EGR valve is OK , could it be a TPS ? or does a 1988 Accord even have on ? , it Idles fine and runs good full throttle , just off idle and mid range it runs bad , thanks in advance for your answers.

 

Is it carbureted?

 

No it has fuel injectors.
