1990 Accord ECU: Fault code 4....Ideas??
Hey there -
I've just checked out my '90 Accord computer, and it's flashing fault code 4, which I think is the vacuum system.
I just want to know: can this explain the problems I'm having: mostly very poor gas mileage and poor performance??
Also any ideas where to go from here? Should I go to the junkyard and seek a replacement for the vacuum switch? Or might it be a faulty computer?
Any ideas appreciated: I love the car, but this is a bit of a rough start to my first Accord!! It's 1/2 price at the junkyard next week, so if I'm gonna do anything, it may as well be now.....
Oh, and have a great Christmas, everyone.
Thanks!!
Bruce

I'm a newbie to accords as well, but have some experience in the automotive world, I believe the crank angle sensor on these cars is contained in the distributor (along w/ the cam sensor and ignition module and coil. I have a 91, and if its the same setup as mine, i would say that you have a bad distributor. They're easy to replace, but can be a bit pricey. also i believe the crank angle sensor controls your injector timing which may explain your poor fuel economy and performance...
Like i said, i'm a newbie, and maybe someone will confirm, but thats the direction i would go.

Well you might have to enlarge this a little bit;
Be sure the ground at theT-stat is clean &tight.

Hey thanks Guys - this helps a hell of a lot.
One thing though: my check engine light has never gone on and the car passed CA smog this way: does that make sense?
I'd also expected some sort of crank sensor in the engine block to send the signal to the distributor: glad this isn't the case....
Thanks
Bruce
