Default 1990 accord No tach no shoulder belt operation.

My daughter was driving and all of a sudden, her tach quit and shoulder belt opened. I am guessing that whatever caused the tach to quit is basically making the seatbelt think the ignition is not on. I had her, at the time, try jiggling key switch and smack dash and column etc... No go... I have since looked things over but not seeing any failed fuses etc. Any ideas?

I am fully ept to do any work needed but don't want to just hunt and peck my through if I can be directed to the cause easily.

My wife is out getting me a new battery for my meter so in minutes I will have that at the ready.
TIA,
Brent

Did you check under-dash fuses?

Also, I seem to recall a life-time warranty on the seat belts. Check w/ Honda, you might have a freeby coming.

good luck

Due to back injury, I try to limit my time under the dash. But while awaiting a reply, I went ahead and checked them as she had to go to work soon. Found the issue to be a fuse called "starter signal" or some such. I had mistakenly assumed this would be the low amp side of starter solenoid circuit when reading fuse circuit names on fuse block cover.

Thanks,
Brent

Starter signal is likely the solenoid driver. A fairly high amperage (< 10A) circuit.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Daughters tend to get irratated when car won't go!

They suspect Dad is in some conspiracy to deny them a new car.

thanks for posting the fix.

good luck

Texas, This was a 7.5 fuse and cover called for 7.5. I think it should have been named "Car has started" circuit Car "started" fine just no tach or seatbelts... She probably crapped her britches when the seat belt opened up on her on the interstate at "70" quote marks cuz she was likely runnin' 85-90mph... Chip off the ol' block, she is!
