1994 accord stalls out
Hello all, I have a problem and would appreciate any help.
I bought a 1994 Honda Accord 4 door, auto, 2.3 liter I believe about a year ago. The car Has 230K on it right now and recently the check engin light came on and the D4 light is blinking. I pulled the code and it reads one long blink and four short ones, or a code 14 from what I understand. This should be the idle air control valve, but I have replaced it and it doesnt fix the problem.
The car will start and drive fine for about 5 min after it has sat for a while, but then the check engine light will come on and the car will die. Sometime it will restart sometimes it wont, and the idle rpm will drop really low. If it does start it will only run for a short while and then die again.
Sorry about the long post and thanks for any ideas.
Matt

Count the codes flashing from both the check engine light and the D4 light on post them on here.
Be clear on which light flashed which code. The check engine light will give you engine computer codes, and the D4 light will give you transmission computer codes.

Is code 14 for the CEL or is code 14 from the "d4" light blinking make a diff.
your right about the CEL code 14 but the tranny code 14-Linear (line pressure control) solenoid open or shorted. It sounds like it's your shift or tq solenoid might be bad.

That is what I mean the Check engine light, the little yellow engine shaped light just stays lit up and doesnt blink, or doesnt come on at all, and the Green D4 light is the one that blinks and it is code 14.
Sorry for the confusion

Ok. That is a code 14 for the transmission.
In the shop manual, one of the probable causes is a short or open FAS wire (connects TCU to ECU) or a faulty ECU.
If you are good with troubleshooting electrical problems, you can download a 94 shop manual from the Online Manuals thread in the DIY section. The spooner site I posted has it. Page 14-73 has the diagram on how to test. Definitely diagnose the problem before throwing parts at it.

i have literally the same problem, any updates on what you do will help!!!
And some one told me that code 14 for the tranny is Linear (line pressure control) solenoid open or shorted. and if your CEL stays on WHEN CHECKING OBDI is for the ecm. i still don;t know what the problem or solution is.

If the ENGINE ECU doesn't have any stored errors, then the CEL will stay ON solid (not flashing) when you jumper the SCS connector.
Presumably the D4 lamp is flashing it's error code 14... right? Sounds like the transmission has an error while the engine doesn't.
