Hi, I just purchased 1996 ACCORD FROM AN AUCTION.
1996 ACCORD SEDAN NON VTEC.
215,000 KM
AUTOMATIC.

From the auction, I started the car it was fine, and I put it in Gear "D", car moves and drives and shifts gears as how 200,000 km car would, I drove it up to 80 km/h and seems to be good just a exhaust leak.

I full stop the car and put it in REVERSE "R", I dont get that lil push, and when I give some gas it creeps forward.

Also when I put it in PARK "P", car dont feel like its locked in park it can be moved if i push it like if it was in NEUTRAL, also when its in PARK if i rev the engine it creeps forward...


ANY IDEA??.....DO I NEED NEW TRANSMISSION?..OR MAYBE SHIFTER CABLE?...... Confused cause it drives okay in "D".. and goes through all the gears.....

 

Check the fluid level. The check the adjustment on the shift cable.....creeps forward while the car is in reverse????

Not in the US, where are you located.

 

Hey, I am from Canada. Yes when I put it in reverse, the reverse lights at the back are "ON", and car dont move in reverse..it sit there on a flat surface if its downhill it moves forward. and when I reverse the engine while its on reverse it creeps forward ...and so when it is in parking. So your saying it might be the TRANSMISSION FLUID OR SHIFTER CABLE?....
you dont think the transmission is bad?......

Well I am not a fully license mechanic but I do some jobs, like brake change clutch replacement, I did engine swaps my self. So I left the car with the mechanic and they also said it might be the shifter cable problem.

Whats symptom of BAD AUTO TRANSMISSION?

 

I hate to say your trans is bad until you've tested and checked several things. So yes, check the fluid...possibly change it it...and check the shift cable adjustment.
