1996 Accord LX - A/C and Heater Fan Stopped Working
I tried using my A/C today. When I turned the fan switch to 1, nothing. I tried the other three numbers, and no air was blowing.
I also tried using a "fan only" ventilation setting, and still nothing.
Is this an issue with the fuse?
Thanks,
Robert

Fan Working Again
I was able to get the fan working again - thank goodness, because the car gets warm real easy.
Here's what I did, with a slight twist which I need your help with:
1) Checked fuses - no problem here.
2) Pulled out and then re-installed the Heater Blower 40 Amp fuse.
At this point I turned on the engine, and bingo - fan is working fine. Now, however, the "check engine" light is on.
I took the car into the shop. When they reset the check engine light, the error code indicated "Bank 1, Sensor 2, Heater Cicuit."
The tech said this error is related to a wire(s) connected to the EGR.
My question to you:
Is there a number for the particular error code?
How serious is this problem, or is it something I should leave alone?
Thanks,
Robert

What was the error code number? POxxx??
I think you should clear the code, then see if it recurs.
Then you can post the REAL code here and get some TRUTHFUL information.
Did your "tech" find/repair a wiring problem with the EGR lift sensor?
The O2 sensor HEATER CIRCUIT is in no way related to the EGR; the EGR system has it's own codes.
I suspect the blower fan motor brushes have worn down and will be making intermitant contact in the future.
You can determine this is the problem by turning the fan on and thumping the bottom of the blower motor to jog the brushes into contact with the armature.

Not too High-Tech Techs
hondadude, I get the distinct feeling you're saying the so-called tech's don't know nuthin'.
Would the error code of P0036 make sense?
Where exactly is the blower motor?
Thanks

The error codes up to P0999 are supposed to be the same across all car companies. But that's over-simplifying things... Most car companies only use part of the complete list of codes, and Honda doesn't seem to use P0036.
The description sounds like P0141 Bank-1 Sensor-2 Heated Oxygen sensor heater circuit.
Still, after the code has been cleared, wait for it to come back & then read it again. If it doesn't come back, then it may have been stored from some past problem.

Yes, that's the error code - I verified the number with the repair shop.
Thanks for the heads-up regarding past problems. I used the car yesterday and today, and the CEL didn't come on.

I registered just to bump this thread. I have a 1996 Honda Accord EX 2 door. My ac/heater fan had stopped working suddenly and taking off the 40 amp fuse and putting it back on got the fan working again. Thanks for the quick fix!
