1998 Honda Accord Code p1457
I have a 1998 honda accord with a p1457. I went down the honda service manual. The purge valve, the bypass valve and the two way valve seemed to test ok. The two-way did hold vacuum but a smoke test seemed to have smoke coming out of the two way valve. When I took off the two way valve/solenoid combination, fuel poured out of the two way valve and then the lower port of the valve would no longer hold vacuum. I took off the solenoid and it seemed to test fine so I just replaced the two way valve and reassembled. I'm waiting to see if the code comes back. My question is why did the two way valve initially hold vacuum and why did it fill with gas? Also, should smoke ever leak from the two way normally?

The two way valve is a common issue on your accord. Especially if you live in the north where they salt roads.
I suspect that you have corrosion due to road salt. Smoke shouldn't escape from that valve.
I don't have a good explanation for it holding vacuum. I can't remember how that valve is setup. Hopefully the problem is solved.

More often then not the two way is the culprit. Often times when power is manually supplied to it it will click, thus the solenoid is actuating, however, the problem lies with it leaking. In fact, I just replaced one on a 02 two weeks ago and the owner has driven it over 1k miles and the like has not come back. The fuel pouring out seems like another issue, but if you have a confirmed leak fix that first and see if the code returns.
