Default 1998 Honda Accord v6 whistling Sound

Hi HAF. I been having a little trouble with my 1998 Honda Accord Ex V6 Sedan. The car has been making a whistle noise for a couple of days. If I am driving slow about 20mph I can not hear it. But if I drive over 4mph I can here a little noise. But when I drive through potholes or bad street I can hear the whistle noise a lot. Like if something is lose under the dashboard. I pop my hood and look for anything out of the ordinary and shake the car as well and could not find or hear nothing. Does anyone have any tip on why there is a whistling sound? Thank you.

It could be a brake pad wear warning caused by a thin metal strip that contacts the brake rotor when brake pads are worn to about 1/16" thickness. Get brake pads inspected for wear and replace if wear is confirmed.

good luck

@TexasHonda I changed the break pads not so long ago. Thos news break pad has less than 1000 miles on them. Do you anyother reason why the whistling noise? I was told that it can bot be the pcv valve or anything else related to the motor since is just sound when I drive over potholes.

If you only hear while vehicle is moving, then something w/ suspension, brakes, or drive train (trans, axles, wheels).

Poor brake installation practice could cause noise even if they are not worn.

Wheel bearings can be tricky, but usually don't present a high pitched whine/squeal, but rather a roaring/groaning noise. Elevate both wheels on jack stands (very securely!) and rotate w/ engine/trans to look for noise/problem. Don't do this if you don't have experience w/ car repair.

good luck
