When the ac is on (assuming it is working) BOTH fans should come on.

Open the hood and turn on the ac, both should come on. If not, then some testing is going to be needed. If you are up to it and have a few tools, we can help with the testing. We will need a bit more information (4 or 6 cyl-which fan is not working-ect).

Default water temp

well im might be worried over nothing
its the drivers side fan that is working and now i belive thats the main fan so it would make since that the temp would go up with ac on and no ac fan working. they both dont come on with ac running only drivers side the ac isnt super cold but with fan not working that makes since .temp with out ac does not go over a third
a new question with cap off how long would it before you would see movement in radiator i can get it up to temp (i can put a finger in it hot but not scallding) bottom hose still cold.
now once again my temp does not go over a third on the gage i just get a little paranoid with water pumps, timing belts and their adverse affects on a motor with 194000 miles

Both fans will turn on when the a/c is turned on and the engine is running.

You need to figure out why the passenger fan is not turning on.

You want both fans to work, because the driver's side fan could stop working and cause the car to overheat. This would not be good for the engine.

The test is pretty simple. Do you have a volt meter?

The temperature of the coolant hoses sounds like the radiator is is properly removing heat from the coolant.

It is hard to see movement of the coolant through the radiator.
