2000 accord auto tranny troubles help!
#11
I cant speak for a transmission from your generation. I just replaced a transmission in a 2007 Accord I had the same questions. I ended up pouring about 1/2 qt in before I put the torque converter in. The shop manual said nothing about adding transmission fluid to the torque converter for a 2007.
A suggestion was made to me to pull the fuse on the fuel pump so the engine does not fire and just crank the engine so fluid will be in the torque convertor when you actually do start the engine. I never thought about it needing to be primed but again the shop manual for a 2007 said nothing about adding fluid to it so I would be inclined to think it does not matter.
If it were me I would fire it up and fluid will be in there pretty quick.

Resolved
I called the tranny rebuild shop they said fill the trans and fire it up then top up again. Car is running great with all issues resolved. Had a leak at one of the sensors but that was minor and easily solved.
The trans repair shop told me the biggest issue is the clutch adhesive material breaks down with heat and cooling cycles and that is why they fail.
Thanks everybody.
