2000 Accord letting in water on driver side
I am having a significant amount of water leaking into my car when it rains. The water saturates the entire driver side front and rear carpet and padding. I haven't the slightest idea where the water is coming from, I was just hoping someone could help me, because it smells, and I am trying to keep it from getting worse. I have ripped up the carpet in the front and rear and am trying to keep it dry but all of this rain isn't helping. I suspect the water is coming from the front, but i'm not sure where, all the weather stripping and door-rubber is new, I just bought this car my guess is that the guy knew it had this problem but didn't tell me about it. Any and all advice is welcome.

this problem is well known. what the factory did was to no apply enough
sealant to the section where the cowl and side body member join. It's
also an area that promotes pooling of water. Over time it becomes rusted
and the metal sections decay allowing water to drip down into the
interior. The best fix is to remove the fender and the section cover
near the cowl. Once you find the decay, treat it to stop the rust then
fix that decay area. I used caulk but there are better ways I'm sure.
I think it was reported by the company as a recall matter so the dealer
might fix it, I dont know for sure on that.

Interesting. But keep in mind that there's different Accord bodies around the world. USA & UK/Eur Accords are very different from each other in 2000. I don't know which one NZ gets. Still, it's a good thing to know about.
