2000 accord V6 erroneous DTC 1491
Hi All,
anybody experience a recurrence of the DTC 1491 after applying the TSB for the EGR
replacement and intake manifold work? The check engine light comes on after approx 45 miles
after reset. I have a 2000 accord V6 106K miles. No vacuum lines exist into the EGR, so no leaks, right?
Thanks for any input or ideas......

You do know that EGR valve is a GM design? That should explain just about all your problems LOL.
Who did the TSB/EGR work? Did they for absolute certain clear out the EGR port in the intake?
How the system works; The computer commands on the EGR valve, then looks to the MAP sensor for an expected pressure change on the intake manifold. If the Map sees no change it tattletales to the computer to throw the Low Flow code.
The EGR system only works after the engine is at full operating temp.
In your case that the code happens so long after engine warm up, I would suspect that the EGR valve itself is bad.
You can try removing it and blastingout the soot/carbonwith Berrymans B-12.
But if the problem recurs after that replace the valve.

RE: 2000 accord V6 erroneous DTC 1491
Hondadude,
Thanks for your info!! I did the work for the TSB. Absolutely sure that the intake manifold is clear according to the TSB. Not sure about the lower portion of the manifold (the end with the port into the EGR). Pulled the EGR to clear out what I could from the lower side but no carbon came out. Blew it out with compressed air. Seemed to be passing thru not blowing back. Reassembled everything and test drove it. No code. Next night after sitting in the garage all day, I drive to the store. DTC 1491 shows up on the code reader. Reset it and drive around some more. No code. Drive 400 miles the next day, no code.
drove around this AM with no code. I thought I had a pattern of about 45 miles before the check engine light goes on (2 times 1491 triggered) but now I don't. You mentioned the MAP sensor being part of the system. Could that be bad? So now I just driving around with the code reader plugged in, waiting!! Thanks for your input.
