2002 accord cylinder misfire
Hi all,
I was experiencing jerks when driving on highway. Now there is jerk when the car is in idle. Couple of days ago the check engine light lit up. I went to local auto store to get the code. It had 5 defects. All of them point toward misfiring engine. Basically 3 of my 4 cylinder are misfiring. Anyone suggestions??
P.S. I am new to DIY. I changed the brake pads recently with the help of DIY in this forum.
edit approx. 120000 in the car

Your accord uses platinum plugs, so they should last a long time. I can't remember the maintenance interval, but your owner's manual will have that info. I think that they last 90K.
Always use NGK or Denso plugs recommended in the owners manual. NGK PZFR5F-11 are the ones that you want.
Bad gas can cause some problems.
Also, post all of the error codes that you got. The start with the letter P and have 4 numbers, like p1234.

I read the code in a local store. I don't remember the code numbers. The descriptions were cylinder 1 misfire, same with 2 and 3, fourth one was something like random misfire however I don't remember the last one.
Also I bought the spark plugs. It is platinum plugs. I will check if they are NGK PZFR5T-11. The store employee recommended the plugs and I got it.
PS bought the car from a friend, not sure when he last changed the spark plugs

I'd say bad gas too. no reason for you to have 3 of 4 cylinders misfire.... put some new gas in it and run some fuel injector cleaner through it. change spark plugs if you want they're cheap enough. make sure you gap the plugs. if its running better after the injector cleaner just go through another tank and have your shop reset the codes so your engine light goes off. this recently happened to my fiances car because it was sitting with the same gas for a few months runs great now.
