Hi,

I have a 2003 accord ex 2.4, I just replaced my front calipers and now my brake pedal goes all the way down almost effortlessly. Basically I have no brakes when the car is turned on especially, very small amount of pressure. When it's turned off and I press the break a few times it get's harder but not nearly how it should get, solid.

I did bleed the front calipers but I think I have serious air in the line. Do you guys have any suggestions? Do you think I should bleed all for wheels really good until I make sure there are no bubbles coming out? Do you think there is something wrong with the new calipers? I screwed up somehow but so far my only explanation is that I need to do a lot of bleeding because I have a lot of air!

yes you need to bleed the brakes more

 

I bled the brakes in the front which is where I replaced the calipers on, and the bubbles stopped coming out but maybe there is still more air, maybe i need to keep doing it until I acquire the firmness that I'm looking for. Someone told me I should do all four one by one just to make sure all air goes out. Right now If I drive that car at 15mph the brake will go all the way down and barely stop the car. The abs will kick in at 15mph.

 

Bleed all 4 corners. Air has probably gotten into one of the rear brake lines.

Bleeding order for your car is LF - RF - RR - LR.

 

Are the bleeder valves on the top or the bottom of the caliper?

 

the brake on the drivers side has the bleeding valve up on top. which i heard it doesn't make much of a difference as i have seen mechanics doing it. but I think I know where i screwed up and I forgot to look at it. The brake fluid level probably went way down. and i forgot to refill as I was bleeding the brakes. I'm sure I got air from the top as well. I'm quite sure. Which means I have to flush the whole system until there is no more air. I thought about that one thing so i would not forget before i even started changing calipers and that was the one thing i ended up forgetting when it was time (IDIOT). I will definitely bleed all four to make sure.

 

Bleed valves HAVE TO BE at the top of each caliper. If they weren't, air pockets could hang out in there.

Couple years ago someone had constant problems bleeding their brakes, until we realized he swapped right-left calipers. They bolted up just fine but the bleed valve were at the bottom.

 

that's interesting Jim. Going to take that in consideration I never knew that but I made sure they gave me the right calipers and apparently they didn't. Man i have a lot to look for when i get back to work on that car. Thanks for your help anymore feedback is welcome.

 

Well, if I remember the case of that guy, they DID give him the proper calipers. He just swapped right-left when he installed them.
