Hey guys. I did a search on here and found this problem listed but it seems they are all on the 6 cylinders, same goes for the youtube videos. I had my cat replaced today and the guy told me I will most likely throw a code soon on the EGR, he said 401. He said it's carbon build up over time and it just needs to be cleaned. For the record I've never thrown that code before but I do have 222,000 miles on my 97 SE so I wasn't surprised there could be carbon build up. Should I just throw in a can of sea foam and drive until the code does pop up or is the 4 Cylinder clean that hard to do? I'm decent with a wrench and some good picture directions, I just can't find them.

That's the usual problem. If you get high NoX from an emissions test, EGR is indicated. Pretty easy job on 94-97. New orings on fuel rail/injector is a good idea.
