shift lock?

Default shift lock?

Hi noob to the forum.I have a 91 accord auto and when I go to shift from park,instead of stepping on the brake I have to lift on the gas pedal and press the brake.The motor wants to stall when i do this.Any fix to this problem?There is a key hole for the shift lock,how do i disengage the lock?All help app thx Jon[&o]

hey welcome to the forum. glad to have you here.


there is this little rubber boot on your throttle cable that goes out and creates play in the gas pedal. if you take up that slack in the engine compartment this will eliminate that. there are a couple 10mm nuts that hold the throttle cable to the throttle body, loosen them. if you need further help as to where the throttle body is let me know. but tighten up the slack in the cable and your gas pedal wont dangle anymore. as far as the car trying to stall. dont use the cable to increase the idle of the car. if you look into the throttle body hole, on the top of the throttle body there is a flat head screw. turn the screw to the left to imcrease the idle, right when you hear the iac valve start to hiss is the perfect setting. pm me if you need any more detailed info.

what exactly do you mean when you say ( how do i disengage the lock ?? )..

theres a key hole so that you can disengage the park lock, just in case something happens and the car needs to be moved. ex would be like a dead battery.
