Default 92 accord transmission problem-NEED HELP!

Hi guys,

My 1992 accord LX was running like a champ until last week when my tranny started giving me problems.Problem #1was it would not shift out of park so I had to use the emergency shift release. I just replaced my burnt out Transmission Control Unit and that fixed problem #1. Problem #2is that D4 and D3 seem very "sticky". When pressing onthe gas in either gears, the car barely moves. D2 and D1 seem to be the only gears that work fine. I thought replacing the TCM would fix everything but only problem #1 went away.

I did the jumper wire test by connecting the 2 wires near the passenger kick panel. D4 light is now blinking 8 times (8 short flashes). Does anyone know what this diagnostic code means? Check Engine light is also staying on.

Talked to the service dept at honda dealer and they said it might be a stuck shift valve??

Default RE: 92 accord transmission problem-NEED HELP!

Code 8 has following possible causes in 90 Honda Accord Manual.
1) Disconnected shift control solenoid valveB coupler
2) Short or open in shift control solenoid valveB wiring
3) Faulty shift control solenoid valveB

Of the three, the last is most likely but rule out the other two by inspection. A & B solenoids are a paired uniton the transmission near the dipstick.

good luck
