Default broken wheel stud

Hello,

I am planning to replace a front wheel stud on my 2003 Accord couple. Do I need to remove the front hub? Space between the hub and splash guard seems to be not enough for the new stub to pass thru. If so, what does it involve? It looks like more than unscrewing the hub nut.

Thanks

I sorta remember someone did this...

Remove the thin splash shield. THEN look for a recess of some sort; where you can turn the hub to position the broken stud for clearance to remove/install.
