Default 94 Accord instrument cluster problem

Ok, so this problem just started today. I was driving to work and I noticed the tach and the speedo just drop to 0 (like car shut off) for a split sec. So i started watching it and id did it several times. I also heard an intermittent clicking noise from the right side of dash area. Car starts and runs fine. Any suggestions?

So there's no momentary interruption of engine power when this happens?

If you have ABS, did it trip a light?

Those two gauges do share a common ground, did the temp or fuel level move as well. I'd inspect both battery cables, clean and tight at the battery. On the ground cable from the battery be sure the two points of contact (body and engine) are clean and tight. We can then get into the inside cabin ground for those two gauges.

The temp & fuel gauges are very damped so they move slowly. If the loss of ground was very short duration, the other gauges probably would not have had enough time to move.

Thanks for the replays. The ABS is not working in my Accord. So I pulled out the relay to stop the annoying vacuum noise it makes when I start the car. That is when I first noticed the problem. It did it again on Monday and the radio would also cut off, but no loss of engine power. Did not happen today.

ok......did you inspect the cables?

Put the relay back in and get the codes....I'll guess a code 1 - pump over run. From there check the fluid in the abs res - notice this is NOT the brake master res. Then Jim has a very nice write up in the DIY section for how to bleed the abs unit.

I'm going to stay with a bad ground for the one issue until verified.

Fixing the abs is a bonus
