97 - Intermediate bearing on driver's side axle
I have a 97 Accord that has noise and vibration coming from the left side at the front. After a drive, I feel the left wheel and the intermediate bearing between the CV axle and the little stub axle to the transmission. Both seem quite hot, though the intermediate shaft bearing seems REALLY hot. "Can't touch it long". Anyone experienced this? Do you buy a whole new shaft and axle, or just change bearings in the intermediate thing. OR, do you get a whole new housing and bearing for the intermediate bearing?
I want to do the most efficient, smartest thing. Not necessarily the cheapest.
How likely is it that the real problem is the wheel bearing, and intermediate one always is hot? I think I might change both while I'm removing all that stuff.

Yes, there is a stub shaft, half shaft, etc
Between the tranny and the outer CV/axle assembly there is a short shaft that ends in a bearing bolted to the tranny, that the CV shaft splines into. It's what they call a stub shaft or half shaft. Otherwise, the CV axle on that side would be really long.
