Default 99 Accord fuel pump/relay?

Could use your help. Went out this morning to start my Accord DX 4cyl. Cranks, no start. Pulled the distributor cap and saw signs of hairline cracks. I replaced the cap and rotor and regapped plugs and checked for spark. OK. Still won't start. Checked fuel and added a gallon just in case gauge was off. Also, checked fuel pump fuse in passenger compartment... OK. I don't hear the fuel pump pressurize at ignition key "on". Need your help to check if the pump is working... any suggestions to help me with further trouble shooting? Also-do you know were the fuel filter(s) is (are)?
Thanks, QuietGiant.

ok the fuel filter is located on the firewall. to check for fuel just follow the incoming fuel line and where it meets up with the fuel rail there is a little nut that you can loosen....have someone crank the car if fuel comes out of there then you can be pretty sure that the pump is working just fine.

what plugs are you using? bosch? if they are then you most likely blew your coil. there is also an ignitor inside the distributor that sometimes goes out. i bet your running bosch plugs though.....those are no good. feel free to ask any further questions about checking if the coil or the ignitor.

Car sat for a few hours after re-gap and new cap and rotor and started up like nothing was wrong. I guess it was relay related and it reset itself. Yes, I am using Bosch platinum plugs, for the last 25,000 miles without incident. Do they contribute to blown coils or ingitors? If so, I'll replace them now with conventional AC or other brand.

you have a honda.....only use ngk plugs....only..... bosch plugs directly cause your coil to blow. you may still have a problem hopefully its gone now but i wouldnt even drive it again until you pull those plugs out of your car. i learned the hard way along time ago.....its the only time my car ever broke down on me....when i put bosch plugs in it.

Thanks... My son just went out to use my car and it won't start again. Plugs out ... new coming...hopefully I did not blow the coil. Either way, I will take your advice and dump the plugs By the way, regarding the Bosch plugs, other than you (and possibly me) , has anyone else had this problem.

Please, I want to know how Bosch Plugs blow a coil. This coming from a person who actually passed the ASE Parts Specialist and Automotive Service Consultation exams.

I fully understand how engines work and I know if Bosch Plugs were producing Feedback they would blow Coils on more than just Hondas. For that matter they wouldn't include a warranty on the Platinum versions as they do.

Now if you were talking the +2 and +4 plugs, different story. Those can cause heat damage, piston pitting, etc... due to the amount of heat produced.

as i understand it...bosch plugs have a high impedance or ohm rating. this causes a buildup of power at the coil causing it to go out.

ngk plugs have a much lower resistance and they transfer the power better. call the dealership tomorrow, the parts guy should be able to tell you all about them

I will call and let you know. I know some of the Service guys down there personally. Never been told anything about Bosch from them. In fact they have always agreed with me on my usage of only Bosch Platinums and I know two of them only use Bosch Platinums themselves.

EDIT: I will never ask the parts guys. They want to sell you a product and some will tell you anything in order to sell you what they carry.

I called the dealer service department and they said it doesn't really matter. I talked to parts and they said NGK only. I talked to schucks, no clue why. I talked to Idaho Speedcenter they said NGK only. I then called Bosch who couldn't figure out why "ANYONE" is saying NGK only and said to call Honda.

So I did. Honda America said it only matters that the plugs are the correct specifications for the car and that Bosch Platinums are fine and will cause no problems on a Honda "UNLESS" the car has been modified then a person would have to contact the manufacturers of the Modification components and verify with them.
