Accord 2003 V6 3.0L oil pressure light
Hi everyone,
Im having a hard time with my ride.
I have a 2003 Honda Accord LX V6 3.0L. 155,000 miles.
I was on the drive way home but noticed that my car started to get hotter (just above the mid temperature)so I stopped and noticed that my water pump had a big leak, so I stopped and wait for the engine to get cold. Once the motor was colder I put on the radiator some water so I could get home. The thing here is that the water pump had a really bad leak, so the temperature started to raise again on my way home. So the process that I was doing it was to stop every time I could and wait so I could fill the radiator with some water. The maximum temperature my car reached was 3/4 the temperature indicator has and not for a long time. The day after that, I decided to change my waterpump and the time belt too.
I did the job with a new water pump and new time belt. I aligned every mark of the crankshaft and camshafts and were right aligned, then I putted all the parts back together and started my car. Everything was doing good and normal so I was doing some testing drive for 20-30minutes, and then the oil light pressure started to blink. I noticed that when I accelerate the car to 2500 rpm, there was a little "knock", but everything sounds perfect at "idle". I looked at the oil level, but the level was fine (maximum level). I also revised the mounting assembly of the engine, and noticed that 2 bolts are loose because the threads were damaged, so there is only 1 bolt that is tight correctly between the mounting assembly and the engine.
Then I decided to change the oil pressure switch to see if that was the problem with the oil pressure light. After that I decided to buy a "5 minute engine flush" because I can see some dirty oil (the prvoius oil change I did it 1000 miles ago), once I did the flush, oil & filter change, I did a test drive again and noticed that the oil pressure light starts blinking once the car reaches the normal temperature. So it does this evey time I start my car. On cold temperature the light doesnt come on.
Anyone had this in past before? Or any suggestion/idea please? :crook:

Some have reported issues with aftermarket oil pressure switches?
You might want to pull the switch and get a oil pressure tester and screw it in the port and get a gauge reading as to what the actual pressue is.
Just for giggles, how many miles since the oil filter was installed?

- I don't know about the 2003 models, but I do know my 2001 calls for filter changes ever 15,000 miles, so unless the 2003 uses a smaller oil filter, or if the engine is literally coming apart, they I rather doubt it is clogged after only 10,000 miles.
- Even if the filter is clogged, it shouldn't have an effect on the oil pressure as the filter bypass will make sure the engine gets the requisite flow of oil.

Poor maintenance practice (very long oil change intervals) can result in crankcase oil varnish/crust deposits that may eventually block the oil pump suction inlet screen. This will result in low oil pressure.
Suggest redoing engine mount arrangement to get all bolts in place. This is not difficult. A jack is essential to support the engine when this job is performed.
good luck

thanks to all for the reply.
I decided to open the oil pan of my engine and take a look. Everything has too mas dirty, so I cleaned everything, and the screen was too much dirty. I decided to look at the rod caps. So I took off 2 caps to look at the "metals" and now im gonna install a new ones (this is for avoiding the noise I heard before).
Does anyone know the torque values and sequence of the rod caps bolts of this engine? (j30a4) right now im stock because of this. :S
