Default Accord 2016 Sport RPM drops below 1000 RPM?

When cruising with the feet off the gas pedal and letting the speed slowly decrease, I could see the RPM meter dropping from 1100 RPM to around 800 RPM when it hits 20 MPH and then back up to 1100 RPM again.

Also when the RPM drops I feel as though the car is halting a bit, as if the brakes have been applied for a split second and then let go.

Is this normal for the car to do? The AC unit has also been turned off.

Hello, Fred... welcome to the forum

Yes, what you've described is normal

Thank you for the friendly welcome!

It was confirmed at the dealer where I had them test drive the vehicle. Seems like that is normal function of the car to do.

Good for your brakes to as you "learn" to let the car slow itself at lights and stop signs. After awhile you'll probably use it to your advantage and stop braking so much.

Yep, that is exactly what I do. It probably would help extend the life of the brakes too.
