Accord 95 AC System Fix, Need Advise
#41
Finally after long three years, the A/C is working for the first time. the shop who re gassed replaced valve cores. I had to take off evaporator and all the lines just to make sure i put correct o-ring.
It brought me tears in my eyes.
Thank you from the core of my heart to all of your kind input specially TexasHonha. Appreciate your help and ever grateful. Thanks Again.

the A/C has broke down again. hot air is coming out of the vent. not coooling a bit. saw lots of oil underneath the compressor. a mechanic told me compressor has gone. when i turn on A/C, radiator Fans run. if the compressor spilled that oil it would take out Freon as well ans system pressure would be low enough to turn on A/C. i bought an old compressor from Junk, what else i have to look for?

Compressor shaft seal has probably failed. Look for oil slung out by the clutch rotation to form an oily ring around clutch pulley rotation plane.
Shaft seal can be replaced easily on these compressors. I bought my shaft seal from ackits.com. I used a piece of 1-liter soft drink bottle to form a slip surface around the shaft and prevent damaging seal on shaft.
good luck

Got an old compressor from salvage yard. there were no caps in the HP and LP line inlet holes. should i flush the compressor with isotropyl alcohol lacquer thinner? would that damage it? the company i bought the compressor gave six months warranty but it looks do dirty and old.

replaced compressor, AC working again.
within 3 weeks two different reputed shops serviced A/C (vacuum, leak check and Regass) they all said they didn't find a leak.
but this time refrigerant oil drips from suction hose near compressor. (dripping where black rubber meets metal bit of the hose) the way it drips, all the gas should escape from that point, but gas is OK as cold air coming out of vent.
puzzled !

If oil is escaping so is gas. Oil may be draining from leak source separating from gas leak. New suction hose should complete the repair.
A R134a leak detector should detect escaping gas nearby.
Crimps/hoses age and leaks at the crimps are common.
good luck
