Air Bag ??

Air Bag ??
Hey Guys, I'm working on repairing a 2001 accord that has some front end damage. The air bags did not go off as the SRS light has been on for some time prior to the accident. I was looking through the DIY section and found a DIY for resetting the SRS computer. My concern is that if I do this the air bags may deploy from the prior damage. I have looked closely at the front end and have not been able to locate any sensors for the air bag. Can anyone tell me where these sensors are (I beleive they are crush sensors)? Also, anyone who knows their way around a SRS system, is there a chance the bags will blow after I reset the computer??

RE: Air Bag ??
the srs system will not deploy the airbags from resetting the control unit.
the impact sensors in the front are behind the bumper skin on the frame.
the side impact sensors(if they have them) are inside the car under the carpet in various spots from model to model.
if no airbags are deployed just read the code and post it. most likely it's code 9-3 driver seat belt buckle switch failure. it's covered by a lifetime warranty at the dealer.

Do you know if the reset procedure listed in the DIY section will work on my 01 accord? It does have side air bags. I got the car from a friend. My understanding is that her son put his feet up on the passenger side dash and kicked the air bag. She said that the light has been on since. Any idea what could trigger that, or maybe it was a coincidence. I dont' have a way to read the code without payin the dealer almost $100. I'm hoping to just reset the light and maybe it will work...(I hope!)

Thanks so much for the picture...that saves me a lot of time. Is there a way to test the seat belt switch without going to the dealer? I know it at least partially works becasue the seatbelt warning light comes onif the belt is not buckeled and goes off as soon as it is buckled.

RE: Air Bag ??
it may be an intermittent failure. that's all it takes. i've had them where the switch shuts off the gauge light but still sets an srs light. basically, clear the code, if it returns take it to the dealer. ask them if seat belt buckles are covered. if they are, there ya go.
