All dash warning lights come on at 1500rpm
#11
Well I installed the new (rebuilt) Alt. Lights have gone off dash but the Alt put out a squeal so I went to exchange it with another, samething happen. Not the belt issue, or bearing so its a short somewhere in electrial system cause the alt to charge at 16 volts on battery post. Disconnect the charge wire at alt and noise goes away, nice arc though. Anyone else ever had this happen?

There is a shorted solder on the dashboard assembly/instrument cluster. You will need to remove the dashboard assembly/instrument cluster. There are two screws holding up the cover, remove them. This will expose two more screws holding up the assembly/instrument cluster, as well as two screws directly going in, under the base of the assembly/instrument cluster. Remove these four screws. Carefully pull out the upper portion of the assembly/instrument cluster, there are three cables you will need to unplug. The cable on the top left is the cable where the connection is faulty.
After unplugging the three cables, remove the dash assembly/instrument cluster. You may now work on it with your soldering iron. Take it to a clean, flat surface. Remove the plastic cover on the back of the assembly. There are approx. 8 Torx screws. Remember the plug on the left side of the assembly, when you removed it? You will now be looking at it backward, it will be on the far right. These connections come loose over time, especially if your vehicle has 150,000+ miles. Check each connection and resolder as necessary, being careful not to connect any two connections with solder.
Reverse the above and test.
