Default B7XA Transmission rebuild question

I apologize if this is not in the correct section. This is my first post here.

I have a 1999 Honda Accord V6 with the B7XA transmission. As with many others, my transmission was shot and needed a rebuild. I decided to tackle the job myself, carefully following the overhaul manual (especially torque specs).

I test drove it on Saturday and it shifted beautifully. Better than ever in fact. However, the next day I went to drive it and I got a rough 1-2 shift. Turned out to be a bad pressure sensor and is fixed.

Now the only issue I am having is the range selector on the transmission. Whenever I shift from P to R, or N to D, I feel a very firm shift into gear. Almost a clunk, but not quite that bad. Any ideas on what this could be?

FYI: I used genuine Honda fluid (learned the hard way a couple years back to only use Honda fluid) and have checked fluid level 3-4 times with it OK each time.

Did you check the condition of the motor mounts? It can cause a clunk, especially shifting from P to R.

Thanks redbull-1. I had not checked the motor mounts but will do so this weekend. I would imagine the stress caused when lowering the engine so much to remove the transmission could certainly damage a 12 year old motor mount.
