99 Accord EX, V6, 112k miles, Auto Trans, T Belt done 95K, Valve Adjustment 100K

I am getting codes 300, 01...06 misifires.

I just cleaned the passageway under the upper plenum that feeds air when the throttle is closed. Things improved but I am still having idle problems, I just discovered that I had neglected to reconnect a jack that controls the solonoid that controls coolant flow to the throttle body.

The motor makes kind of a 'ticking noise" at low rpm. I used a stephescope and dont hear any internal noise. It almost sounds like a misfire tick. I just replaced the idler pulley and drive belt so that cant be the source.

The motor still seems run a little rough at idle but smooths out at higher rpms.

Could there be an issue with the distributor or coil producing a weaker than normal spark causing the multiple cylinder misfires, thus causing the noise?

Because I get codes on all cylinders, I assume it would have to be a coil or distributor issue.


Any ideas?

 

Ticking noise could be spark shorting to spark plug well tube due to a damaged or cracked COP. However, this would not be a random misfire, but would be one cylinder. Vacuum leaks seem more likely. Check EGR hoses, PCV hoses, vacuum brake booster, etc for leaks.

There are numerous possibilities. See a good video on youtube by Scotty Kilmer. search "fix P0300"

I also have the same problem other than mine is an 98 accord v6 vtec.i have replaced DISTRIBUTAR cap rotor plugs wires everything honda replacements 02 sensors cleaned and unclogged egr ports it continues to have all cylinder mis fire codes random misfire code and multi cylinder code also evap and egr. It also has a strong odor of gas after driving or sitting idle.if i clear the codes they come back on within 4 to 7 miles THE GAS MILAGE IS HORIBLE ANY SUGGESTIONS i need help bad please help.

 

If your smelling gas it's running rich. Most likely an o2 Sensor. There is really no such thing as "cleaning" an o2 Sensor.

I am trying to clean the idle control valve.
