Default Can I replace this without removing the sub-frame?

Hello everyone - hoping someone can help me.

The previous owner had a p/s rack leak and it ran down the sub-frame to this bushing and over time cracked the bushing and now the bushing is shot. I have the new OEM bushing to replace but I don't know if this is possible without removal of the sub frame / engine cradle? Has anyone replaced one of these before with the sub frame in the car or does anyone have access to All Data or does it happen to reference this in your Haynes or Chilton? Thank you in advance for any suggestions or information on this repair.

My car: 2005 Honda Accord 2.4L Auto Trans LX Coupe

Looks like it is called the lower insulator in the shop manual. Looks like there is an upper rubber part as well that could also be damaged.

The shop manual I got can be purchased for $22 at automanualsource.com and is worth the investment for doing DIY work.

That part you bought needs to face a certain direction.

It might be easier just to remove the subframe. What kind of press tools do you have available?

Thank you for the reply! I'm sure it would be easier to replace the bushing with the subframe out of the car but I'm hoping I can avoid that if at all possible as removing the subframe seems like it would be a lot of work. I'm sure it's one of those parts that not a lot of people have to replace. Does it say in the manual it has to be pressed in an exact way? I have a ball joint press and access to a 3 ton press but that would require removing the subframe. I usually have a Haynes, Chilton or Bentley manual for all my cars but I just bought this one not to long ago and haven't ordered one yet. I agree though they are worth it for sure and every DIY'er should have one.

I was thinking if I could drill/cut the old one out and then maybe use a floor to press the new one in but it would maybe start lifting the car off the jack stands.

They do have to be installed a certain direction. I attached a pic from the manual.

That metal piece is split, so you should be able to get it out from underneath. You may be able to use the bolt and an adapter to press the new part in. Use oil on the old bolt, put some grease on the metal sleeve and take your time so you don't strip the threads.

If the old part doesn't come out easily, you may be able to lower the subframe and slip a nut behind it. Then use a bolt and a socket from below to create a slide hammer to remove the old part.

Thank you both for all the information!! That helps a ton and is a good amount of information to go off. PAHONDA, thank you for the picture and advice on trying to remove the insulator that makes sense and I agree with what your saying. I will try and get out in the garage on Friday and see what kind of progress I can make.
