Post Heat/AC Problems for a 2000 Honda Accord

I've got a 2000 Accord EX. Since this summer I've been having problems with my heat/ac. The heat or AC will turn off, but the fans will still blow. When this happens the mode buttons go blank and cannot be changed. The temperature contrial dial will no longer change the temperature when this happens as well. Also, it seems to happen more when the AC is on. Either cooling the car or defogging the windows. As previously mentioned I can still control the fan.

I'm at a loss for how to fix this, mostly because I have very, very limited knowledge about cars.

Sounds like the heater mode control panel is losing power. This'll involve digging into the dashboard & doing electrical tests. Got a multi-meter? I ask because you said you have limited knowledge about cars.

When that happened to mine the control was indeed bad. I bought a good used one off ebay for around $50. Its not too bad of a job. A couple hours at most, even being extra careful.

I know that my dad has a multi-meter.

I'll talk to him in a few days and let him know what I've been told. If this is indeed the problem and can be fixed that easily I'll be thrilled.

I had the same problem, I ended up replacing the dash module which contains the circuit board behind the controls. It was $375 but it fixed the problem.
