Dome light will not come on
2010 Accord 2.4l EX-L AT
My drivers side dome light will not come on when door is opened or when car is locked remotely. However, if you manually switch it on it works. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?
Thank you
TJ

The issue may be due to the micro-switch for the driver's side map light.
The map lights have dual functionality; (1) turns on if pressed, and (2) works if door opened. Because the map lights have "dual functionality" there are separate ground sources involved in the circuit. The same ground source feeds both driver and passenger map lights when a door is opened. A different ground source is used when you manually pressed them on.
The micro-switch has three small terminal cavities (female) which matches up with three (male) metal terminal blades. One of the three metal terminal blades is not making sufficient contact inside the switch for the maplight bulb (probably the blade for the ground source coming from the coming from the driver's Multiplex Integrated Control Unit (MICU). – All the individual doors switches (at each door) are wired into the driver's MICU (located in the under-dash fuse box).
Mouser Electronics sells the ALPS switch (ALPS part number SPED210200) for $.86 each, plus shipping.
See this link regarding replacement from a Honda Pilot forum, which is similar.

Maybe all issues are sorted re. the map / dome lights by now?
For the UK members, there're available in the UK on eBay, along with some diagnostic info. and the YouTube link.
Search Google for: "ebay uk Honda-Civic-Accord-CRV-Jazz-Interior-map-reading-light-switch-not-working" and that should point you straight to the item.
The map reading light / dome light switches in some assemblies are common faults on a number of hondas.
Hope this helps
