Default fluttering sound from air-mix motor assembly

My 98 Accord V6 has a fluttering sound coming from the air-mix motor assembly. Seems to do it more when the cabin temp is close to the set temp. Goes away when you crank the temp up or down. I checked the linkage to the air-mix door and the cable that runs to the valve on the heater hose-both seem to be moving freely. Do these motors go bad? Should I be looking for some other cause or just replace the motor? thanks.

Sounds are really hard on the internet....I have not heard of too many mode control motors going bad...I have heard and personally have issues with the linkage binding. Usually a good lube of the "slides" and that and I'm back in business.

I know sounds are tough to explain. The motor makes a slight sound whenever the temp is changed, even 1 degree. Now what it periodically does is makes that sound almost continuously and usually when the set temp is close to the actual temp inside the car. I'll try to lube things up and see if that takes care of it. Thanks for the reply.
