Default gear shift and brake lights

Today when i got into my 2003 accord, the button on the gear shift would not press in..After I pressed in the bypass switch and started driving a lady stopped me at the light and informed me that i had no brake lights..Are these two things interelated or 2 different problems..Thanks for any help..

Could be a problem with the brake switch.

You will have to check on their web sites. If not, the dealership will have it.

Or take a look first. The switch may just be unplugged or the bracket messed up.

How do you know if it's unplugged?

Well, it's a switch near the hinge of the brake pedal. It should have a wiring harness clipped to it. Just check the see if it's attached.
