Glove Box Latch 2007 Accord

Glove Box Latch 2007 Accord
I was able to remove the glove box latch by peeling the door section away from the box. The latch does not pull the lever/rod and I can't see any reason why not. Does anyone have a description of how this latch works?
When I turn the key, the mechanism does move parts around, but in no case does pulling the user lever actually move the internal arm.
I have searched several forums and every time I see this type of post, no-one has an answer.
Update, I found a small pin with a nylon sleeve laying inside the glove box housing. I used JB Weld epoxy to put the pieces back together, although I am skeptical that it will have enough strength to hold such small parts.
Pictures show the progress of pieces in the assembly and repair.

Is this a common failure? It's not like we are over users of the glove box or something.

Glove box latch 2007 Accord
The epoxy fix did not hold up. I have tried it 2 more times, but it doesn't hold more than a few closures.
I am going to buy a new glove box from a junkyard, but the lock will not match my key anymore.

clip to replace lock cylinder
Thank you for the suggestion, you may be correct. However, I had to tear the glove box apart because it is not a serviceable assembly. If I buy a replacement glove box, I don't think I want to break it apart.

How to change the glove box lock cylinder
I purchased a glove box from a junk yard for $50. I looked closer at my original torn down glove box and realized that you can replace the lock cylinder without tearing the junk-yard box apart.
I removed the lever cover by sliding it off towards the passenger door. I had to pull very hard, I found something with a hook on it in my tool box which helped me get a hold of the inner plastic surface.
Once that cover is pulled off, I could see a clip that needs to be pulled out. I grabbed it with some needle nose pliers and it came out easily.
Next the lock cylinder from the junk-yard box slipped right out.
I removed the lock cylinder from my original glove box and slipped it into the junk-yard glove box. Next I pushed the wire clip back into place and verified that the lock cylinder was locked in.
Finally, slide the lever cover back on and its done.
I included several component pictures for those that need to replace or repair components inside the box.
The door comes off easily by prying with a screwdriver. Don't worry about breaking the door, it is tough and I have had it on and off several times while sorting all this out.
Hope this helps someone else.

My 2007 accord seems to have the same problem. It began getting very difficult to open, and then we could only open it if we pressed up on compartment door while pulling on the latch. Now it just flat out won't open no matter what we do. Waiting for the day that we are pulled over and need to show my registration which is locked inside.
