Honda Accord 1997 SE Transmission Problems
Here are the facts: 161,000 miles, oil change at regualr intervals, timing belt change about 10,000 miles ago, No check engine light, Car in good condition. About a year ago I noticed my transmission seem to slip from 2nd to 3rd gear. Over time its gotten progressively worse. As of now the car will sputter almost choke on 2nd gear before swiching to 3rd generally about every 4th time I drive the car. I brought it to the dealer and they said they can find nothing. All they found was a leaking gasket and oil pan but that the transmission (fluid filet etc..O) is normal. I have not gotten the car back but am convinced that it is a transmission problem. Is there any other problem with the car that can cause this? Higher speeds and gear work fine. Low speed the gears work fine, but when I press on the gas I have to put a fair amount of pressure to get the car in gear from 2 to 3. Perhaps a fuel governor, bad spark plugs, HELP!!! Any suggestion?

RE: Honda Accord 1997 SE Transmission Problems
This transmission is completely enclosed, no pan to drop, if a fluid flush does not do it, its rebuild time. Get the type with the machine flushing through the dipstick tube, engine running, use OEM Honda fluid if you go to a franchise shop, ask if they will use your OEM fluid if they do not carry it.
